Kids' film festival Little Big Shots comes to Sydney Opera House

The fun-filled Little Big Shots film festival is headed for the Sydney Opera House Studio from 5 to 7 August, featuring the best in local and international shorts, animations and documentaries for – and even by – children.

Little Big Shots 2016 is a weekend of eight different daytime programs – each filled with bite-sized films, grouped by age, from toddlers to tweens – that invites kids to laugh, whoop and wonder, and offers their adults a chance to see the world through their eyes.

On Friday night, a Best of the Fest program of films suitable for ages five and up kicks things off – but it wouldn’t be opening night without a Red Carpet Gala, complete with kid-friendly disco (parents are of course invited too). What better way to launch a festival built on creativity, inspiration and fun than to boogie the night away at the Opera House?

"Little Big Shots is quite simply the best film festival for kids I’ve seen. Every year it gives kids the opportunity to be inspired by the best film, documentary and animation experts from home and abroad. Plus, the child-produced videos perfectly sum up what we at the Opera House know to be true – kids can do anything we can do, and better!," Head of Children, Families & Creative Learning Bridgette Van Leuven says.

Now in its 12th year, Little Big Shots is Australia’s only major stand-alone kids’ film festival, touring all major cities in the country from June every year. With its focus on diverse short films collected from all over the world, as well as a commitment to showing the best child-made films from Australia, Little Big Shots is one of the year’s most exciting and heart-warming experiences for kids.
