Kate Ceberano to find the ‘next big thing’ this Australia Day

Aussie pop and jazz icon Kate Ceberano is coming for you Sydney! Looking for the next big thing in Western Sydney, Kate is stepping up as one of the judges on this year’s Parravision talent quest.

Parravision is one of the highlights of Parramatta’s Australia Day celebrations which showcases the talents of the City’s emerging performing artists.

Kate will sit alongside the head of Mushroom Music Ian James and celebrated dance performer/choreographer Dr Laura Osweiler on the judging panel.

“I’m excited to see the diverse pool of Western Sydney talent this competition will uncover. Experiences like this offer local artists a rare performance opportunity in front of a live audience and inspiration to follow their dreams,” Kate said.

In 2014, Kate was the first woman to be inducted into the Australian Songwriters Association Hall of Fame, so no wonder she is a perfect fit for the job!

The City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Andrew Wilson says: “Parravision provides a unique platform for emerging artist to gain valuable experience performing in front of a big, live audience and it’s one of many exciting initiatives which help support Parramatta’s thriving live music culture”

The Parravision finalists will compete for prizes that include recording sessions and music scholarships in the following categories:

  • Traditional and contemporary performance (includes cultural performance groups, traditional or contemporary)
  • Vocal performance (most outstanding entrant judged on vocal talent and delivery)
  • Parramatta Prize (winner of Parravision)

After announcing the winners, Kate will join Aussie icon Daryl Braithwaite on the main stage (just to make it even more Aussie) to headline Parramatta’s Australia Day evening concert.
