Interview with Justice Crew's Lukas Bellesini

8-time ARIA nominees Justice Crew are back in Australia and set to delight fans across the nation with their Live & Local tour that kicks of in January 2016.

We managed to catch up with Lukas from the crew to tell us a little more about the concert and what the crew have been up to.

Hi Lukas thanks so much for sitting down with us! What have you been up to now that you’re back in Australia?

It has been pretty busy for us, especially over the last couple of months. We have been working on our new single ‘Good Times’ that’s just come out and I think it’s the best song yet this year for us. So it has been pretty hectic with new music and performances.

What was it like working with Mr 305/Pit Bull? Did you learn a lot?

It was amazing, we met him in Australia for the first time and then about a week later in the promo-run for ‘Boom Boom’ and were asked to support Pit-Bull on his tour. Getting to do this tour with such amazing performers like Pit-Bull and Kesha was a fantastic experience and it was awesome to be part of the team and having that comeradery.

We learnt a lot through pep-talks and advice before and after shows, one of the best pieces of advice that came form Pit-bull himself was that you never know who you’re going to meet so always be nice to everyone you talk to, everyone’s important.

Is there anyone you haven’t worked with that you want to in the future?

Definitely! Skrillex would be a big one for us as a group, we’re all massive fans and have been since he first came out. To get a dance track together with a bit more of that edgy Skrillex vibe would be awesome.

Tell me about your upcoming Live & Local tour? What do you hope to achieve with the tour and what can audiences expect?

So it’s an intimate tour, we’re trying focus on rural and regional towns. There will be some live elements and instrumental tracks and this will be the first tour to go off the back of our ‘Live by the Words’ album so hopefully everyone will be singing along.

Basically, we want to get to know the fans a bit better and meet them face to face because those are the people we’re thanking at the end of the day.

I hear that you have a reputation for giving free dance and performance workshops especially in rural areas? Do you plan on doing something similar on this tour?

Yeah we’re thinking so. Depending on how long we’re in each town for and what venues are available.

But, that’s not to say we aren’t planning on dragging some fans up on stage to dance and sing along with us… anything could happen.

This tour has been labeled a never-before-seen live show with social media sneak-peaks of new songs that will performed at each show. Why have you decided to approach the tour this way

We wanted to take it on a different angle. We’re trying to show that there is a different side to us, we aren’t just ‘doof doof’ party music and we thought that social media would be a good way for our fans to learn more about us.

What’s next for Justice Crew after the Live & Local tour?

We have a line-up of gigs next year including the Australia Day performance, but the one I’m most excited for is one that we’re doing at the Australia Zoo. We’ll be doing the Summer Down Under Festival which is two days of performances and I’m a massive animal nerd so I’ll be in my element for sure.
