Date Night Under $50

Let’s face it Sydney’s not cheap. It’s all well and good to wine and dine that special someone in your life, but if your entire week’s pay is going into the night...it’s just not worth it.

We lived like paupers for a few evenings and found the best venues for date night, just under a pineapple ($50).

Jones the Grocer

Perhaps you were thinking of getting out of Sydney for the weekend? Up to the Hunter Valley for some cheese and wine tasting, but then after looking at your bank balance you realise you can’t...Well we’ve got just the thing, head to a food appreciation class at Jones the Grocer. Their expert tutors can guide you through the differences between cow, sheep and goats milk.

Wine lovers will learn more about the different grape varieties and blends. And for the lovers of everything sweet, find out what makes a premium quality chocolate. All for $40pp.

Miss Peaches Soul Food

As she calls it ‘Soul food will get you to heaven faster’. That may be the case when you see what’s on the menu and what they are charging for it.

Cheap as chips! Actually, their chips are about $7 and include sweet ranch sauce. Add to that a Brooklyn lager and butter poached Spencer Gulf prawns with a homemade Sarsaparilla Soda and you’ll be in food heaven.

Spakka-Napoli

This woodfire pizza and tapas bar is heating up the North Shore with its amazing food and great service. Oh, and did we mention that on Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s you can get pizza and beer for $20? How about the stuffed garlic pizza...two layers of potato, rosemary, provoke cheese and herbs topped with garlic. Or the Diavola with salami, tomato, mushrooms, mozzarella and chili flakes.

Yes please!

Govinda’s

Everyone loves an all you can eat buffet. And if you get to see a movie at the end of it, all the better. That’s what Govinda’s is offering. An all you can eat vegetarian buffet at Govinda’s in Darlinghurst before popping in next door to watch either one of the newest movies that have just graced our screens, or an amazing Bollywood film where you’ll be dancing in the aisles...for 8 hours.

Just $30 for the movie and dinner package.
