Best Places for Brunch in the Northern Beaches

The Sydney weather these past few weekends have been teasing us of the summer ahead. Forcing us outdoors and closer to the beaches, were we inevitably get hungry and need to eat. Brunch is the meal of the weekend and we’ve found the best places on the Northern Beaches who serve it. Real good.

Pelican Pavilion - 1068 Pittwater Rd, Collaroy

There’s just one small piece of wood that stands between Collaroy Beach and Pelican Pavilion, and once you’ve seen what’s on their menu you’ll soon find yourself choosing it over an extra hour on the sand. We had our eye on the buckwheat pancakes with burnt orange, cinnamon and vanilla bean honey with fresh ricotta.

Le Trèfle - 35 Tramore Pl, Killarney Heights

Tucked away in the suburban streets of Killarney Heights, Le Trèfle is a hidden gem. With its own in-house mill, and their fresh house baked breads, croissants and crepes are delicious. If we had to pick just one dish off the menu it would be the Healthy Benny with 2 poached eggs, smoked salmon and spinach hollandaise on freshly baked sourdough bread, of course.

Bronze Kiosk - 1 Surfview Rd, Mona Vale

With a seasonal Autumn/Winter menu, we couldn’t look past the first item on Mona Vales Bronze Kiosks menu! A breakfast pannacotta with passionfruit yogurt, kiwi fruit and bronze granola clusters. It was good to wash that down with a mango, apple, pineapple and lychee Bikini Bod tropical frappe.

On Shore Cafe Brasserie - 16 The Strand, Dee Why

For brunch in Dee Why, try the On Shore Cafe. Conveniently located right opposite the beautiful beachfront, the Shallot Pancake is the way to go. This traditional Chinese food is grilled until it’s golden and crispy.

Chelsea Tea House - 48 Old Barrenjoey Rd, Avalon

The very visually appealing little cafe in Avalon has an amazingly bright terrace you won’t want to leave. Especially when you see how big their big breakfast is. Thick pieces of sourdough heaped with scrambled eggs and the perfect sides of sausages, roasted tomato, bacon and avocado. .

The Waterfront - Pittwater Rd, Church Point

With a hard to find location in Church Point, it’s even harder to decide on what to order. Do you go sweet and order lemon and sweet spiced ricotta filled crepes with limoncello liqueur or savoury with the scrambled truffled eggs full of saluted wild mushrooms, spinach and goats cheese with toast?

We chose both and then went on a boat ride!
